Soma changed my Life

RAINMAKER HOLISTICS·TUESDAY, MAY 14, 2019

I have always been drawn to movement. I danced through childhood, played every sport under the sun and climbed up trees like there was no tomorrow. I also have scoliosis, a condition that has made most of these movement either painful or downright difficult. I’ve spent many years in chiropractic offices, trying traction methods, insoles etc. Though chiropractic has contributed to my success; receiving the bodywork that I now practice has allowed my structure to support the things I love to do free from pain, with more balance and grace than I ever thought possible. It is my intention to share the benefits of structural integration with anyone and everyone that wants to live a life with the freedom of movement.

In 2014 I attended the Soma Institute of Neuromuscular Integration® under the direction of Karen Bolesky. This school changed my life. Receiving the 11 session series myself I noticed a drastic change in my body including lengthening my spine by 1/2 an inch from decompression. The benefit that most resonated with me after receiving this work was the psychosomatic effect that it had on my emotional well-being. I felt free from anxiety, able to focus at work and that each decision I made came from a place of clarity.

The series is this simple.

11 sessions created to address the structural tensegrity of the body. Each session builds on one another to undo years of postural patterning. strengthen your alignment, alleviate pain and deepen the brain body connection with the integrative nature of the work. Utilizing hands on deep tissue with somatic movement to re define your bodies relationship with gravity.

Session 1 Opening the ribs - learning to breathe

Session 2 The feet- addressing gate- Finding balance - grounding structure

Session 3 Connecting the sideline

Session 4,5,6 The vertical core- delving into the belly of the beast - Finding center

Session 7 Head and Neck - finally something we know...or do we.

INTEGRATION

Session 8 & 9 Connecting the body that we have just pieced apart and worked through. Movement sessions that integrate the work ensures lasting results : Re working the patterns we hold in our bodies and teaching a new way life with uninhibited movement.

Arms Because we live in a world of tech, this session promotes upright posture and deals with the various issues that arise from working with our hands be that swinging hammers or hunching at a computer all day. in 2019 arms are our star players.

Final Integration : A graduation. One final session aligning you with gravity to bring you into this new world of somatic movement with confidence.
